Recall Details Concern : FULL WINDSCREEN RETENTION MAY NOT BE ACHIEVED IN THE EVENT OF AN AIR-BAG DEPLOYMENT
Description : It has been identified that during installation of the front windscreen the primer applied by an automatic glazing robot was not being dispensed onto the glass. This omission can lead to the chemical bonding between the primer and the polyurethane adhesive not being activated, and therefore the windscreen nort being chemically bonded to the vehicle. Where this is the case water ingress might occur likewise wind noise. In extreme cases, full windscreen retention may not be achieved in the event of airbag deployment or during a collision which increases the risk of injury.
Remedial Action : Recalled vehicles will have the rear tailgate glass inspected for application of the primer/activator. Where this is present no further action will be taken. On vehicles where the primer/activator is not present, the front windscreen will be removed, and re-fitted in-line with exiting service repair procedures.
