101 Difflock Vacume Pipes...

j.costick

Shifting Up
Am just doing the finishing touches to a 101 which I didn't take apart in the first place (it's been a bit of a jigsaw!)
Was wondering whether anyone could tell me what connects to the 3 vacume outlets on the Diff lock lever/knob. I have linked correctly the 2 pipes which come from the actuator itself - but what connects to the 3rd and where from?
Many thanks
jc

Hi mate, on my stage 1 ( same engine and gearbox ) there is a wee outlet on the back of the inlet manifold that this connects too, it is just behind the carbs.
Hope this helps and welcome to the forum by the way.

cheers baz

Cheers for that baz, I wonder what I've got connected to THAT one then..! I figured it would be the pipe that supplies the vacume - just have no reference to it in any of the manuals - typical!
Thanks again
jc

no problem mate, i only found out where mine went by having a look at someone else's truck, i couln't find it in the manuals either.
Cheer's Baz

Which pipe goes on which outlet has been discussed fairly recently on the 101 yahoo forum. Search through the archives there and you should get your answer

You should see a thingy sticking out of the manifold just in front of the carbs, on the right, it's like a nut with a tube coming out the top. Pop the pipe on that!

That's where mine is, some manifolds seem to vary but you should find one somewhere.

Andrew.

Also worth noting is that the vacuum actuator feed on the manifold can cause problems with the LPG mixture if you have a wee leak anywhere in the system. I found this out when the diaphram in the vacuum unit went west and the LPG showed the symptoms of an air leak.

BTW make sure that you keep the pipes away from any hot bits, they melt real easy!
