3 doors freebies with roof racks

What roof racks have people used on their 3 door freebies?is there one available that sits tight to the roof?
Would be great to see some pics of 3 doors with roof racks to see what works!

I got kind of the same question
I tried to make my own custom rack but since I`m not a good welder it didn`t look too nice.
I`m currently considering A roof rack from Swedish Thule http://www.thule.com/Thule/ProductDetailPage____15815.aspx
The biggest Xpedition rack is 99x158 cm and looks GREAT.
I also have a finished electrical wirering to some roof driving lights and is considering the safari 3000.

But i have a question too. On the open air 2000-200x in front of the sunroof on each side is sone small plastic covers. if you remove theese it looks like an atatchment point for some roof rails. can anyone confirm this?

Yeah, same here - genuine LR bars with Thule bike carrier and kayak pads. I love the look of the G4 roof basket but don't know where these come from/if they're compatible with the 3 door.

I think this rack would look just as good on the 3 door

The G4 roof rack is awsome, but sadly i dont think it will fit the 3 door due to the lack of mounting on the hardtop here are some more picks

Why didn`t I buy the 5 door

From the look of the picture I cant see any mounting points that rely on it being the 5 door over the 3 door.

From the description in the link "Attached to the Freelander roof rail mounts using stainless steel fixings, the new rack weighs just 22 kgs and has built-in mounts for four forward facing and one rear spot lamp."

I would have thought it would be easy enough to make fixing points into the hard top for the rear fixings and use the 3 dooor front fixing points for the other attachment

Thats right but i think that it also has a fixing point in the front where the sunroof is
and thats where the problem lies

I have looked at the roof rails which are £270 on eBay or £380 and a LR Stealer

I had a home made roof rack on my 3 door freelander. I bought it from a guy in Gravesend somewhere. He had formed the whole thing from 3/4" box section, including the curved rails. The top was a brownchurch style box, all sprayed in black. The top box section was removable (with four strong people) and the whole thing weighed a b*****dy ton.

The 3 door kit is shorter along the top and continues down the back of the car. Makes it bleeding awkard to get the roof off too LOL.
