alternator drivebelt help

my alternator drivebelt (defender 90 200tdi) has snapped I've had a look at the haynes manual and it reads to me that I have to remove the power steering pump drivebelt to put the replacement on. I know that this is a bit dumb sounding but I cant see in the dark to see if thats right. Is it possible just to put the belt over and adjust or does he other belt have to come off before. thanks for your help
