Am I missing the point?

Offroader
Saw a 90 yesterday (TD5 I think but was in moving traffic so I only had a few seconds). It had lots of kit on it - bars, spots, snorkel etc etc. Looked like it would cross the Gobi no problem.

BUT
Low profile tyres? on alloy wheels?
I mean really low profile - he wouldn't have got up a kerb without dinging his alloys let alone getting off road.

Don't know what the wheels were but they must have been big as the tyres filled the arches pretty well.

When we sell Merc MLs and RR Sports, they are fitted as an option by a Local Company, for us.

Purely Chav.

they may have loads of money and run two sets of wheels and have a set of muds at home for the weekend :)

Or maybe just maybe he exercised his right to freedom of expression and thats the way he wants his landy to look we're not all clones are we. one mans landy is another mans eyesore.

I wonder why God didn't excercise his/her right to self expression by creating an elephant with giraff legs.........

I wasn't being critical, just (as the post title said) I couldn't see the point.
To my eyes it looked daft but that's just me.
Owner probably thinks he has the best Landy in the world-
And who knows-
He might be right.

Spotted in Hull be the way.
Colour - errrrr - Yes, probably!

Read in the Sunday Times recently that Defenders (fully kitted) were a must-have on the Kings Road. I'm sure this has a lot to do with the backlash against 'SUVs', and the accolades the Defender has had from Top Gear etc...
If it is increasingly bought as a fashion statement (like a Hummer:eek: ) by city types, will it get it labelled as just another SUV by the antis? (If it's not already).

This is no-ones fault I guess, as everyone has the right to have whatever they want & do whatever they want to it...

It wasn't the Twisted Performance demonstrator was it ???
Have a look in December LRM. Sorry but it looks like my copy's AWOL.

But then when they tire of them as they always do, there will be glut of them, so they can be bought up cheap.:)

Unfortunately, everybody else will lose value from theres for a while.:(

and no Pete, it isn't just you, it would look daft.

Aah that explains it us hullites are famed for our lack of taste, style and common sense. Oh yes and we never give a t*ss for anyone elses opinions.

Might happen sooner rather than later with posh Defenders. I mean, who is gonna put up with the service costs just for a fashion statement?

In the year I've had mine I've certainly learnt a lot. Most of which involved getting dirty and under the car. So I'm guessing its not going to last long then!

"Whats this icky stuff dripping from my car?!"
"Grease my nipples!? I'd rather not!"
"What's a turbo?"

etc. :D

You could be right - but never mind the service costs - who's gonna put up with the water leaks & niggly breakdowns on a 26K Defender, if it's just a fashion statement?
They get me down enough as it is... and I forgive it most things. :(

But you wouldn't want your Prada shoes getting wet every time it rains would you? :D

In a word- "bling", so many 4 x 4 look that way, and although i agree with teh first comment made by Teml4r, it's also everyone's right to do what they want.
