Right here's the deal.... we (swmboand myself) have asked the neighbours if they want anything that's in the hall way. my neighbours said no so thats cool, I'll take a load of stuff to the tip... Then tonight i was bored and looked in the cupboard that's under the stairs (it's where the electric meter is for the communal bit) when i was under there I noticed a very familiar shaped black case and thought hmmm.. I pulled it out and was shocked to find a 1977 Ibanez les paul guitar.....rusty as Fu*k but salvagable all the same.... it hasn't been taken out of the case for years...the case was stuck solid and some of the red fluffy stuff had stuck to the bottom of the guitar...

I want it! :D:D but i suspect it belongs to the vicar that rents out his flat above me :o Is it wrong to steal from a vicar or is there some law somewhere that alows ginger people to do such things?? my wife wants nothing to do with this terrible imorral crime...but i see it as a resurection....a second comming ....surely the vicar will see this in my theft.. :)

Okay so I cant just nick it :( but what do I say to him....."oh father...do you own a guitar that's under the stairs?" at which point he could think "hmmmm I wouldnt mind a guitar.... Why yes dave that's mine now keep yer grubby mits off!" or do I say "do you want anything under the stairs??" and he could say yes or no.... If he says yes do I then ask can i buy your guitar??

honest replies please :D:D what should I do??

mmm, tough one.
re-string it , clean the switches, plug it into that amp of yours and then decide.:)
if it works , it was ment to be.

If you find something and keep it that's theft by finding.

If you know whose it is and you just take it it's still theft! And if you tell him 'there is some stuff under the stairs' without mentioning what is there, that's deceitful!

What right do you think you have to this guitar, if you know who it belongs to? :dunno:

Belongs to a vicar you say? Wouldn't touch it if I were you. He's got a pretty heavy weight insurance policy. Ever felt what it's like to be struck by lightning by the way? ;)

What's the serial number.

I'll tell you whether it's worth keeping/selling or not, hey I might even try to barter with you on it.

Ibanez make some cracking guitars out of their Japan factory, but they make some right dog's out of the Chinese and Korean ones.

It's a Jap ;) where's the serial number stamped??

Bernie, My post was quite missleading (I was being funny) I'm not even thinking of nicking it off the poor fella, quite the oppostie, I hate seeing good things go to waste. I'm goign to offer him some cash but not sure how much....as it stands all of the electrics will need replacing so I'd be left with a bit of wood with some metal on it.

I've e-mailed asking if the guitar is his, if so would he want to sell it as I'm looking for a guitar and it would be a nice little project.

Buttonmonkey

It's a Black Les paul type, two humbuckers...and sort of gold/ivory inlay to the edgesa and name plate....Ibanez has been inlayed..not painted ;)

Righteo! I've e-mailed him.....not sure if it's even his but hey I've tried.... Buttonmonkey I'll post some pics tonight...it's really scabby but could clean up quite well. the freats are all in good nick with no rust on them....the pickups are knackered due to the damp and there's a bit of sirface rust on the plate where the neck joins....most of the chrome is still there though.. :)

Ask and if he is any sort of a decent vicar he will give it you anyway FOC

:D but beware when you have fixed it he may ask you to play for the church

hmmm play for the church.....I now "one" by metallica....could even sing along as well... or what about "walk" by Pantera?? thats a calming tune...:D :D

GET IN!!! the twanger's mine! he has no idea who's it is....he remembers abot 15 years back some guy used to play music quite loud so it might have been his.. anyway......he says I'm welcome to it and wants to see it when it's done..

Cool! :D
