Cherry bomb....what the hell????

L90TD5

In Fourth Gear
Bought a Mid box replacement pipe from Scrapiron racing last year to aid my chipped td5.

Yes it does make a rasping noise but I quite like it. However just seen this..the CHERRY BOMBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBB

Stated: "If you would like to take the rasp out of the exhaust note when running a straight through system why not try one of our Cherry Bombs"

Ok, first, who has one fitted and what does it sound like? Lower? Burblier?!?!?

Cheers,

T

You want to get yourself a corsa.;) :D

Andy.

James you chav....

Simple answer..... NO!!!

Your 90 sounds spot on as it is, just leave it alone.... just concentrate on driving and avoiding vans!!! ;) :D

Save your money for other stuff.

They are refering to a straight through system, without any silencers... but you have a silencer, so don't worry about it!.

your only going to make your engine drink more fuel , lose power and sound awful.
believe me , exhaust design doesn't stop at the exhaust , if you change what comes out , you have to change what goes in.
then you have to alter the way in which the mix is combusted etc.
its not as easy as putting a straight through exhaust on an engine unless like said , your a chav who just wants to be heard before you are seen, which i doubt you are.
my first job when leaving school was building from scratch, and fitting exhaust systems and the amount of people who came into the yard expecting a loud exhaust to suddenly make their car into a dragster was the majority of our customers , we didn't turn them away though , they got what they asked for.:)

I had one on the back of the V8 - i'm telling you it was unbelievable:eek: . It didn't seem to take any of the high pitched stuff out - it was just all high pitched racket . That was the only silencer in the system mind .
Don't know what it will do to the diesel engine sound , but as far as i can see ( and hear) the best thing about it is the name :D .

isn't the golden rule with turbo diesels, to increase the rate at which the turbo spins up? therefore a free-er flow will increase exit velocity and turbo spins quicker. of course this is not to say an open system is best as you will require some back pressure in order to create an exit velocity.

still wondering if rice means chav though.

there's a link that takes you to the 'Riceboy' site that describes them thus:

Who/What Exactly Is a Rice-Boy?

Rice-Boy is a stereotype. The typical Rice-Boy can be identified by his car, or rather what he does to it. Generally, Rice-Boy will start out with a car that was not meant to go fast (typically a Honda Civic), and attempt to "fix it up," usually consisting of aftermarket rims, lowering springs and an aftermarket exhaust system with a large exhaust tip.

Most Rice-Boy cars (or "Rice Rockets") have the usual complement of stickers proudly displaying features that the car might or might not have, most notably, the Honda VTEC sticker from the later model Preludes, and the plaques from the later model Integras.

Rice-Boys do not exclusively drive Japanese cars. There are quite a few fake Mustang '5.0's and Camaro Z28's out there, as well as quite a few strange looking Neons.

......so I reckon it's the US equivalent of chav.
