How Do I? Chssis repair

diveccr

In Third Gear
I guess I probably need a complete new chassis for my 110 Defender but I have neither the time nor the money for that at the moment and really need the vehicle on the road as it's my only form of transport so here goes...

Despite a MOT pass only a couple of months ago, I now have a fairly large hole in my offside front chassis immediately in front of the steering box mounting and suspect there is very little strength left in this area now. This is immediately above the point where a section is added to carry the front bumper etc.

Is it possible to repair this, at least temporarily or should I go and buy a cheap car to use until I can replace the complete chassis?

If it is possible to repair it, can anyone reccommend someone to do the repair for a sensible price (North London area)?

Thanks,

Paul

can you take a pic of the damage?
it sounds like the dumb iron on the front.
you can replace these. foley's are up north london direction i think, they arnt the cheapest but they are good at what they do so it might be worth giving them a call.
they quoted me 400 for both dumbirons and two outriggers.
