Cost effective body panels. Had an accident :(

L90TD5

In Fourth Gear
I need:

- A new front bumper.
- Left hand side front wing.
- Possibly a new front light surround. Not the plastic but the aluminium.

Dont ask about the accident. Ive just been totally shafted. No win situation due to complete gang of liars.

Paddocks ok on panel quality?
Ive seen genuine panels for £165!

PLEASE if you have info please help me out :depressed:depressed:depressed:depressed

Im in a f'in nightmare here.

try a breakers like equicar or someone.
get a quote,
then get a quote from landrover,
then get a quote from paddocks and craddocks and the like.

landrover = quality
eqicar etc = second hand and price should reflect this,
paddocks etc = pattern parts. should fit ok but who knows.

you could even try e bay.
any pics of the damage?

Something tells me for the job doing properly its not going to be cheap...or it may be...but I need your help :(

nobbers advice is sound
other options - try advertising in local paper for secondhand
don't know where in Yorkshire you are - but if Simmonites are still going, I got my (S3) wings from there and they fitted good as gold. not cheap but not land rover price

sorry to see the damage mate

Adrian

Bad luck mate, it could be a lot worse, my dippy brother got out of his mint110td5 to check on some animals, while doing so the engine noise seemed to fade away, turned around and there it was off down the field into a glen, forgot to engage the handbrake, the wing was in bits, picked up a perfect second hand one for 50 quid, I know what you are thinking, you want a new one as your 90 is so clean, but I assure you once it is painted you will not know thw diffrence. Your bumper, as in a lot of new defenders is not worth a dam, my brother bought one from paddocks, heavy duty, it is the biz, tough as nails.

I've seen a few bumper come up on Ebay recently, usually from people who have just fitted a winch bumper. Depends how quickly you want to get it sorted though....

bumpers really arnt that expencive , but if you want to push the boat out these are cheapish and effective.

as for the rest of it , looking at that pic the damage to the inner wing should be minimal and easily repaired (whip off the eye brow for a better look at the inner arches edge). the rest will be easier to replace than repair , try for second hand if you can , that leaves more money for a pro paint job.
brand new panels with a cheap paint job will look like exactly what it is , second hand panels with a pro paint job will look brand new.
you should be able to do the work your self , a good long extension bar with a 13mil socket will be needed to remove the wing from the bulkhead , a few spanners and youve sussed it.

Sorry to hear about your prang mate, I'd be well gutted.

But it'll give you the excuse to have a good poke around under there ;)..you might get away with just the outer wing, i'd be surprised if the inner wing has any damage.... take the old bumper off and fit a nice HD one.....then go after the bloke who hit your motor and re-jig his car to your hearts content ;) :D

Some pretty good info and ideas here. THANKS EVERYONE. I like the look of the raised bumper. Would protect the allisport cooler in an accident too. Had to sacrifice the left wing to save the front.

At around £40 that bumper is a nice change and would make a nice addition too.

I'll let you know how I get on and post pics of the defender.

Whatever route I go down its going to have to be perfect.

Cheers folks.

i can vouch for those bumpers , they are pretty sturdy/robust and look to be powder coated , they look really well put together as well , and for that price:eek: (look at his 'items for sale').
