Has any body seen a Disco TDi with the rear silencer box removed so the pipe exits at the side.Would it sound too loud with the back box removed?

I drove round Holland with the back box removed on my V8 disco...apart from being a bit quicker there was very little difference.

mungo:)

The back box fell off my Disco and I didn't even know!!

I went under to replace a tail light bulb and thought there was something missing! :D
I didn't hear it fall off or notice a louder exhaust note so I've no idea how long it was gone before I noticed. Just hope it didn't hit anyone! :o

Can't say about pipe to the side, but when my 300 tdi failed the MOT (as the pipe over the axle was shot through) I got a local sports exhaust maker to cut just behind the middle box and replace with stainless steel to the rear bumper for £100. Looks better but makes no noise difference. Still doesn't sound like a V8!!:(

But a new system from the cat back is only £60+vat:eek:

One of the CRAG boys (Mark?) has his Disco pipe exiting through the left rear side panel, not any noisier. Paul Humphreys on here will know.

Finally got round to it.

Don't suppose you've got a pic of the underside, i'm looking at doing mine so am intersted in what others have done underneath.

Jon.

My avatar shows me folding the rear pipe right underneath,it creased the pipe just before the back box so I raided a garages scrap pipes for one of a suitable size and bend and then it was just trial and error offering it up and cutting a bit more off.The hole in the wing is a big slot which luckily looks OK,as I drilled the first hole wrong so I did a second and filed it level.
The trim is a bit of rubber tube sliced along it's length.
Glad I looked now,got a bit of a blow.
