Dodgy Diesel In 96 300tdi Help

zenith3891

First Gear
i put some dodgy diesel (old been at in a barrel for god knows how long) in my 96 300tdi discovery and now in runs very poor and cuts out. lots of white smoke under hard revs. car will not drive as revs drop very low and car stalls. Ive replaced the fuel filter and bled the derv with the bleed screw and hand pump but no sucsess. i also topped the tank up with fresh diesel but still no god. I think im gonna have to train the tank. How do i drain the tank and whats the correct way to bleed the fuel system. Many ThanKS Richie

Lift up rear mat remove sender unit and pump the fuel out, refill with clean diesel fit new filter, loosen bleed screw on filter head , pump lift pump lever until bubble free diesel emerges then start and allow to run and hopefully you will be okay.

You might find dirt and debri in the water trap which is just in front of the rear axle on the Drivers side It looks like a fuel filter so I'd check there
