my young dog, bit of a rogue going through the chew everything in site stage, anyhow other day got hold of the cordless phone, pulled the back off and now i'm i aaa rechargable batt short. searched every where for it. phoned the vets . they said it being a foriegn body it would be rejected. been looking through the unmentionable for about 4 days now. no good. good job got a spare phone, thing is im bothered iff its lodged in my dog. vets can x ray at a charge .me mates heavily in to metal detecting and sugested waving it over the dog, not sure how these things work but what do you think, safe or not . cheers alan.....

Alan, go the safest way and get your dog x rayed, for gods sake don't let it go down the same route Harry took with the sweetcorn cob

sorry vicky , i know what you mean, your probably right .vets didn't advise me. so will call them in the morning. hope harry is getting on better. just read your thread. thoughts with you alan....

Safe. But I would not have confidence in a negative result. An x-ray will give 100% confidence in the result. The contents of a battery if digested could be very toxic - especially NiCds which contain Cadmium. Best to know for sure that it isn't in the dog.

Mine likes houseplant leaves and sweet wrappers. Or alternatively just enjoys covering my hands with saliva as I extract the offending item. But he doesn't touch our stuff, thankfully.

Yeah metal detector would be safe.. but again wouldn't trust a negative result... however a positive would confirm it :)
