Usually a person ina position of trust + responsibility i think!

Thinking about it my mate gets the land owner next to him to sign his stuff, i think its cos he has a gun license so is allready known to the police or something ? ?

A person of standing can be anyone, in a "responsible" position. Your boss, teacher, doctor, bank manager, councilor, magistrate, senior manager, heck I have even signed as a "person of standing:D:D:D

I was told anyone on a national regisration or listed on a national list, in local liberary and on the internet there are lists of indiviuals, these include nearly all professions, (Docs Denstists lawyers etc) plus all licenced teachers, policemen, all members of the armed sevices, Cof E prists plus some others such as JP's, MP's, local councilers, Company directors. Its so they can check indepently which they do sometimes.

Excellent list

Just a point don't they have to be current ie paid up member.

I think a retired teacher will not do as the current licence costs about £132 pa, also at some private schools teachers do not need the licence although quailifed.

It not for a passport, but i assume the list will be similar..

I have asked someone, who should do just fine, Officer in one of the armed forces.

I don't know about retired teachers but Margaret still sings pasport forms for ex pupils.

Yes you are right about the licence price which is one reason why Margaret doesn't do supply.

.

I think you will find it does not matter if your a current paid up member of a professional group, its more the qualification that they are interested in. Over the years i have signed many passport forms and occasionally i will get a call from the passport office asking about my qualifications, never if I'm still working or paid up.
