Hello and welcome to the forum...

Dont know allot about the disco's..

Cheers

Thanks buddy appreciated, just trying to find me way around this site.
Based in Dublin Ireland but buying in UK tomorrow.

Many thanks
for your reply

need to check the boot floor, seat belt points at the back where they bolt to the wheel arches, inner sills, possibly the rear cross member, front inner wings, just inside the back door on the ledge, also have a good look and little poke around the chassis, being an s reg if its been looked after, it shouldn,t be too bad, but there are exceptions, from what ive seen , the disco can rot quickly if severely neglected and in my opinion needs relatively maintaining the best you can, the more tlc the better, but that goes for any motor vehicle, but a little surface rot here an there is nothing to worry about, the body should be ok if its seen wax here and there being alloy panels they dont rot, every vehicle is sold for a reason, but if it runs well, chassis sound every thing else ok she,ll take you to the end of the earth and back, i wouldn,t be without mine. all the best pal . chris...:)

Thanks very much Chris appreciated. I am a bit worried bout the engine with the mileage, although I cant expect much for the price, I am wonderin what sort of probs if any might occur there and suspension and other bushings. But I suppose that all depends on who had it and what they did. Hopefully I get a couple of years on it. I suppose I was just wondering if anything drastic happens to them at a certain point, like meself for instance.
I fly over tomoro and pick it up like a stupid .... hopefully it be ok and I will reply to your most helpful message and thanks very much.

Even if i had the dosh for the new model which looks very well, I still like that model, showing my age now eh !! Many thanks

i wouldn,t worry in the slightest about the 97,000 miles its done, the 300 tdi engine is bullet proof, put it this way mines coming up to the 200,000 mile mark and still runs sweet as a nut, with regular oil changes theres no reason why a disco engine wont hit the 300,000 mile mark, i bought my disco off ebay, its always a gamble she had a few probs, but like i said if the chassis sound everything else can be replaced, the bushes etc cost pennies, or you can get a full polybushe kit for £50 and they last forever!!!, depends what you going to do with this disco, mines an all rounder shes off road at weekends, and on the school run first thing monday morning, so i fitted heavy duty shocks which also lifted the her 2" the full shock, spring, goodridge hose kit was £220 all in, BARGAIN. but just have a look at www.paddocks.co.uk you,ll be suprised how cheap things are for land rovers, so let me know how you go on with her when you get back all the best. chris:D

I take it the Disco is the mark 2. If so, most of the comments made apply only to the 300Tdi. The td5 is a different beast. Still, 97k is not a problem providing you have a decent service history.

There aren't many ali panels left on the DII and it is much less prone to leaks that it's predecessors. Boot floors are not a problem either. More common problems are ABS sensors, oil in the engine loom and failing air suspension. Servicing is pretty much the same as the Tdi but some parts cost more. Plenty of people will tell you of the pitfalls of the additional electronics on the Td5 (including engine management), but most of those own Tdi's. Read into that what you wish.

Welcome to the forum. It's probably the best source of info going, and there are lots of people on here who really know what they're talking about.

BTW, you will never have any spare cash now :D
