Hi,

Just got back from Slindon 4x4 centre in West Sussex as the first outing in my new 90.

It went really well considering it is on bog standard suspension and particularly road tyres.

I have to say that the traction control that i was a bit suspicious about was really effective when you give it some extra welly, although quite what effect this will have on transmission longevity i don't know, but suffice to say that on some large wash outs on some steep and difficult climbs you can really feel it think about it to see if you are going to make it..........and then just when you start to think that you might have 'a fail' the cavalry comes and hey presto your at the top.

Just picked up a small scratch on the roof when i slid off a root and just touched a tree, and the side steps did a good impression of rock sliders!:D

Heres a quick snap from my phone just to prove it does get dirty although i must remember to keep my window up in the mud....

Traction control? Pah! I can't imagine traction control in a defender! Still, nice vehicle, glad to see it muddy ;) Now quick wash it off before it rusts!
 
traction control sounds like a good idea, im told it has its pro's and con's just like most modern driving assistences. still prefer LSD's
 
Havnt been to slindon in a while but we are going to boxgrove this coming sunday, its in between chichester and tangmere (i think) and its been described as "the ultimate offroad site".
If your local why not tag along.
 
I'd love to as i have heard it is a great place and only open three or four times a year, but it's one of those occasions when i get to see my kids and the ex would disembowel me if she found out (which she always does)!!
