Hello all, has anyone done anything similar to the above and if so where is the 24v altenator mounted/pulley etc. Any info would be most useful
Thanks
Mike
Hi Chris, is it not possible to have a split system ie 12v for the land rover and 24 for the winch with a separate 24v alternator and a stand alone twin battery setup ?
Then again as you say a 12v motor would save a lot of hassle.
Cheers
Mike
You could do, but you would need to insulate the system and mount the batterys, then fit the alternator and align it. After you had paid for all the parts, a 12v motor would be cheaper and a lot tidier.
Unfortunately its for my brothers 110, dont think I would bother with the hassle of fitting it myself Sat., have my eye on a new 12v from paddocks around £280+vat. Its no Warn but for the amount of off road I do it will be ok.
Mike
Suppose you could put a 24V alternator on, connected to a pair of 12v batteries in series (in a jerry can locker or something) and power the winch from there?
