The Environment Minister is spouting out that if Gobal Warming contintues, then the government will be forced into rationing food. To help prevent this, he advises that we should stop eating food that is not in season like fruit and vegtables, and meat. Also we should avoid food from other countries...


Hmm, Yes Minster, quick question for you, do you actually know how much food is grown in the Uk for the UK market to consume, if so, you realise that we don't grow enough food to feed the current population...

Hmm, Yes Minister, you also have talked this through with the Health Minister who is busy spending lots of tax payers money on advertising that we should eat five different portions of fruit and veg each day.

So Minister, you are saying we should no longer have Oranges, or Banana's then. Which can't be grown on a commercial scale in the UK due to, well the cold weather... mind you, with gobal warming that problem might resolve itself Minster...

But the fact of the matter is, this gobal warming issue now seems to be giving these ministers the idea that they can control every aspect of our lives, we won't be able to do anything without the Government telling us we can do it... sounds very much like a socialist state in the extreme to me. Or is that the state of big brother... Yes, true, crime will be down, the environmental impact per person will be down, the imports and exports of teh country will be balanced, because simply the government will control things to the last bit.

Or is this back to Yes Minster and the Civil Servants have got so sick of the Labour party been in power they are letting their Minsters actually think for themselves and then let them actually talk about their ideas in public? hmmmm
 
And the other scare was some muppet preachihg that we'll have to stop eating meat, because animal production is greenhouse gas intensive .....

Listen! There must be a band wagon nearby, because politicians are jumping on it!

Every time someone comes up with a new and more terrifying aspect to 'global warming', I become more and more sceptical of the whole thing.

BAH! HUMBUG!

Roger, we seem to be rapidly running to the point where someone somewhere is going to declare that the human race should in fact be removed from the planet, to allow it to return to it's natural balance.... please line up for your injection now...

The problem I see is that the "Gobal Warming" issue is been used for too many excuses for groups to demand their ways as been right and trying to force it onto the general public as a whole... It is starting to make the Gobal Warming issue a joke, and as such, the good things that come out of it will also loose out as the general public rebel against anything with a Gobal Warming tag to it...
 
I haven't watched it to get the details, but I heard something on the news that someone has been fudging the numbers about global warming in America. What was that all about?

Roger - there are lies, damn lies and then stats - which can be made to say anything you want. For example when I was at school doing my A-level maths, we proved (to about 99.9%) that the England Cricket Teams bating score was linked the temperature in Brazil... So what does that tell you.. not a lot

That it must be very cold or very hot in Brazil... depending on which way it was linked... :D

The USA thing seems to have been someone proving that gobal warming isn't happening.. as said the whole thing is starting to get out of hand, with some very wild things said... somehow I can't imagine it was worried about the last time it happened... and strangely enough Man survived it that time too...

Wow, great idea! Solves a lot of problems ;)

There seems to be a touch of the 'Witch Trials' and 'Reds under the bed' syndrome going on among the Global Warming theory proponents; all claim to have 'proof' but can't produce sound evidence to support their claims. Bandwagon is about the right description.

The way I understood the global warming thing was that the continuous circle of cold water down hot water return from the ice cap to the equater would stop & us brits would first freeze & suffer a bit of sinkage as sea levels rose as ice cap melts. (there's a scientific name for it which I forget)
Then the tropical rainforests burn due to forest fires, polluting the atmosphere & forest degredation dumps billions of tons of methane into the sea causing fish populations to plumet & increasing the rot.

Africa & other equatorial land is about the only place left to grow stuff & we don't own it. I really don't think a few politicians are going to make a blind bit of difference in the long term.

But it's cruel to take away peoples beliefs. They probably find it difficult convincing themselves as it is. Me thinks they just need bigger stories to convince the voting public to be willing to part with their money in the short term.

If Angela could give us a few equations, I could probably work up an argument they'd find hard to ignore - I do the most tremendous line in B*llsh*t. :D

It informs us that you cannot infer causation from a correlation.


Agree with the suggestion above that the green pressure groups are very often motivated by political ideology, not an objective interpretation and evaluation of the scientific evidence. In fact, many of these groups appear to misrepresent scientific data, when it suites their political agenda.

And this current trend of 'green washing' is becoming increasingly tedious.

If you havn't noticed it is now refered to as "climate change" after the proponants forcast a long dry cold winter back in september :D

In otherwords thay havn't got a clue what is happening, if indeed anything is happening.
 
They go on and on based on a few short years, yet those who have studied weather pattens over thousands of years will tell you certain events happen which change things considerable

One big Volcanco goes off and we punge into darkness for a couple of years
