Free Treasure Hunt Mid Wales April 14th

ROB 110 HICAP

Extreme Landy Fan
I am organising a FREE Forum Treasure Hunt event around Rhayader, the beautiful Elan Valley, reservoirs and infamous Strata Florida byway. It will be a mixture of observational, criptic, map reading clues/questions etc using byways, fords and roads. There will be plenty of road based clues for those not wanting to venture offroad much and all byways will be graded, so you know what you're letting yourself in for (many byways are non-damaging Freelander friendly). The scenery is fantastic and has some great offroading too. You will need the OS sheet 147 for Elan Valley & Builth Wells.

Start/finish is about 20 minutes out of Rhayader. The start/finish location will be given to you nearer the time.

You will start at 9.30am Saturday 14th and finish at 5.30pm at the same place. There will be a 'brief' briefing and you will be given a hunt sheet with clues, you mark up your map and decide your own route to follow. You may drive in groups of 4 vehicles maximum, but each vehicle must be considered as a different team. Phone numbers of travelling marshalls will be provided for basic recovery/breakdowns. The finish is at 5.30pm sharp and penalty points will be deducted for late vehicles. The team that gets the most correct wins.

There will be trophies at the end for winner, runners up, best leafer, best coiler, best non-landy, best 'endevour', best team name, filthiest 4x4xfar, 'blingest' vehicle, etc..... (Donations of prizes/vouchers would be appreciated, thanks to all those who gave genourously last time, esp Dave-H, Roy).

It will be a free event, but donations to this forum and Powys Air Ambulance will be greatly appreciated.

An excellent gastro, gut-busting BBQ will be available afterwards catered for by the 3 non-blondes; ada110crew, Domfish and the handsome one! Cost to be confirmed and money also goes to charity, you won't need to eat for a week afterwards!

Camping is available and location will be confirmed in a few weeks (usual campsite charges and facilities).

If you are travelling/running late Saturday morning let me know and you can start when you arrive, or I'll meet you somewhere. Sunday will allow you to drive the byways you missed. There will hopefully also be non-landrovers and non-forum members too, last time we had about 25 vehicles and raised about £250.

All makes of 4x4 welcome. Ask questions on here or PM me.
To enter please send a PM to me, so I know numbers and can print enough sheets! You can pull out any time.
