GKN Rapier trailer Brakes

Has anybody out there got one of these and modified the brakes so that they are activated by a breakaway device in the event of the trailer becoming disconnected from the towing vehicle? If so could you post some pictures of the mod and describe how it was done please.
Doubt whether it's ever been done and would take a lot of engineering (I own one).

AFAIK the C&U regs are not retro-respective and properly coupled with locking pin in place it's impossible for the trailer to become detached.

This has been discussed at length with regard to 3/4t sankeys elsewhere and it does seem to be a bit of a grey area with no firm conclusions reached other than the vast majority of users aren't bothered.
Agreed it would be quite a lot of work, probably the easiest way would be to weld an arm on the "other" side of the arm that is depressed by the brake activating plunger. But this was only a surmise after a quick look at the job.
As you point out, it is very difficult for the trailer to become detached if the jaw is properly closed and the pin correctly fitted.
Having seen some of the home meade trailes that are towed around the place with little intervention from the police I suspect that they prefer to leave well alone until something goes awry or unless something is obviously wrong with the set up.
