Good idea?

Heard Wogan on the Wireless this morning come up with a good idea:
The DVLA reckon they know the whereabouts of every untaxed vehicle and the Home Office doesn't know where all the illegal immigrants, criminals or terrorists are, so why not get the DVLA to do the job of the Home Office?

Seriously, though, it's a faair bet that many of the illegal cars are being driven by illegal immigrants who either don't understand the tax/MoT/insurance requirements or just avoid them to keep their names off the authorities computers. Sweeping up these cars should result in the capture of an awful lot of illegal immigrants - definately worthy of trying.
 
Thats a good point actually.. Although they would probably then be given nice council houses and allowed to stay as long as they are willing to accept some more benefit!

Don't get me started on this in our area there is a scheme funded by the lottery which buys old cars and pays for them to have free driving lessons & free test, they also get free mobiles. Families get to the top of the housing ladder, now eastern europeans are bringing there kids over so they can claim family tax credits. Oh don't forget gran she gets free NHS care then when she cannot look after herself gets a nice nursing home paid for by the council tax payer

Surely that's a wind up. I know our country has gone to the dogs - or rather immigrants - really? :eek:

Hmmmm. One of the Government's crazy ideas is to put tracking devices into vehicles as part of road charging. So how about every person coming into the UK who doesn't have a UK Passport being fitted with a tag like tracking device. We could soon find them and send them home.

It's no wind up, worked as supervisor/mechcanic in a "commuity auto scheme" orginally set up to keep kids off the streets a night and get them to repair cars etc worked well till the money ran out. Them the scheme got a lottery grant to help immigrants get mobilie that included repairing old cars so they could be used by them to get free driving lessons & free test.

The free mobile phones were given out by a immigrant advice scheme so they could keep in contact with the office.

Manager at local DSS office told me this Xmas there having a problem with Polish workers who are on min wage claiming family tax credits for thier children who still live in Poland, some bring them over claim then send them back, impossible to kept track

Council house accomation is done on need, big family more points

The whole walfare system is a mess with a reasonable benefit system we are an easily target
 
Please don't let me derail this thread with my thoughts on the current state of the benefits system....

I am currently on Job Seekers Allowance, and struggling to make ends meet.

I feel a visit to the Agony Column coming on.......

It would be easier not to let them in in the first place. All immigrants should be kept in secure instutions while criminal and security background checks are made on them and they study basic British history, custom and law and spoken and written English. Only once they have passed all the tests and shown they have a needed skill for the employment market should they be allowed entry (a bit like Australia, who have an excellent immigration system). The fact that we sound like our parents suggests that we are seeing things with a little wisdom and common sense - both characteristics missing from most of modern society.
 
Modern society, well most of it is a blinking joke! The culture off getting into debt and now having half/all of it wiped out when you can't afford it is crazy.

Then there is the whole big brother wannabee rubbish... Don't just lay back and think your going to have some brilliant lifestyle thrust upon you, get on with your life, take responsibility and work towards goals.. And if something does come along like the lottery or whatever, then you deserve it!

Sorry, bit of a rant, some of the major reasons im single now!

That's the thing, isn't it? I worked damned hard to get where I am, and pilots have to invest on average £80k of their own money into their training before they can even start looking for a job, and will typically earn pittence for the fist five years if anything (I got £6032 gross both years when instructing). We can't get any grants or subsidies, and all I hear now is the more extreme lefties and workshys complaining I'm not taxed enough to offset their lowest rates and benefits and how immoral I am to send my kids to a good school! They just want to get rich off the backs of insurance companies, TV companies, gambling and hard working taxpayers.:soapbox:
 
Don`t worry Nick..the Government have shut the gates now....and told everyone to go forth and multiply:D . I have many friends who work in DSS.

I better not tell you the stories..:eek:

came across 2 kurds today who jumped off a lorry in central london-no point calling immigration if they can be bothered turning up they ont do anything-just had to give them the address for lumar house in croydon!!!great!!
