this is exhaust No 3 , and yup , it dont fit.
thefre is only one exhaust for a td , there are no variations as far as i know so how can i get three that dont fit?

since ive started this project ive met some really genuine people who sell second hand parts but 80 percent of the time ive been , well ripped off basically. people are just to eager to take your money from you these days.

Need to find a breakers where you can take the exhast off yourself. That way if you see how it's come off you'll know it exactly what you need to do to get it to fit back on yours.

this did come from a breakers, the front pipe and mid box i took off my self , the rear box/tail pipe he gave me.
the front pipe and mid box fit , the rest is way to long and the rear box ends up poking out under the rear cross member.
ive now got to go and spent another 50 quid on a rear section which brings the total cost of my half crap half new exhaust to more than a new one would cost.

Landys are like that mate. I sent for a Double S for 109. I had two full systems sitting here that didn`t fit. They sent a third full system and it didn`t fit either:D I took a bit out of each system and got a system to fit then they picked up all the other bits.
As they are all pattern parts anyway some of the boys in the fast fit places may let you look at a book of the different system available from Walker Timax or Bosal. Is a new mild steel system not nearly as cheap as the breakers?

A crowd I`ve found good are Chester Exhausts.

Alex

a new system Alex is around 150 sheets , this eecond hand one cost 30 but with three round trips to the breakers its doubled with the cost of fuel to get there.
so i guess it will still work out around 30 quid cheaper with a new rear section but for the sake of 30 quid id be much better buying a whole new system.
i just seem to be throwing my money away on rubbish at the moment.

Nobber,

You're doing so much work on this truck that I'd like to think you plan on keeping it for a couple of years.

Wouldn't it be a long term investment to drag it to a fitment centre and have then fit / bend / modify a stainless performance system?

I plan on doing just that later this year when I fit a 300TDi to my 110 SV Station Wagon.

your right but im running out of money now.
my budget didnt account for all the new parts i needed and so far its cost me way more than its worth so i really need to knuckle down. its just frustrating because 25 percent of my spending is going on parts that dont fit or are unfit to use and i really cant afford to waste any more money or im going to have an unfinished build that i wont be able to finish.
on a brighter note , the list of things needed to finish it is getting smaller and the only real expencive bits i need are two new door tops.
although i will probably have to buy 6 before i get any that fit.

Try and keep your spirits up.. I don't think I've come across anyone with as much dedication and shear determination as you portray.

That's not meant to be a put down to all others who achieve their goals but somehow you manage to bring to light obsticles that others seem able to avoid.

thanks Alice.:)
im just not seeing the wood for the trees at the moment.

Hi there, sorry to hear of your problem, I am just about to fit a new center-box to my 300tdi 110.
Just a thought, but is it the cat converter that could be causing the exhaust to apear too long ? ie some 300tdi have them and I believe some do not. I may be wrong mind as I may shortly find out.

so far its cost me way more than its worth

Join the happy band :) :) of rebuilders/modifiers who end up with a vehicle that has cost them   more than they will ever get if they sell it:D :D .
It never is an economic exercise, but if you make it as you want it, you get a vehicle you know, and love (despite some of the feelings during the build):( :( . It only becomes economical if you keep it and get years of happy motoring out of it.

the worst bit is when you rebuild a TD at great time and expense to then find that a 200tdi will fit and not shag the drivetrain :(

saving my pennies.....

Seems cheaper to buy direct from Bosal...
Bosal Direct

Even paddocks doesn't work out that expensive....
Paddocks
