Thanks for posting this Darren. I used to work at a garage in a village in Rutland and we had a Series 1 with a Harvey Frost crane similar to this one.
The last breakdown wagon we had in the family garage business was a Leyland LD with a derrick type of arrangement in the back onto which we used to hang a block and tackle to do the lifting. A triangle was chained to the front of the motor, the chain from the block and tackle attached to the two chains holding the triangle on at each side and up the car came, then the front of the triangle was hooked onto the back of the wagon. Imagine trying to do that with todays plastic motors.

This reminds me... somewhere in the farmhouse I have a Land Rover optional equipment 'ring binder' full of all sorts of these things.. must look it out and scan a few in for the delight of the online Land Rover fraternity!

Ok turns out I have two binders full of optional equipment leaflets.. Will try to get round to scanning some in, but for now.. any requests for particular subjects? I seem to have everything from PTO driven sheep shears to fire engines and ambulances..
