How do I put rear seats in?

Darrin

Accelerating Away
I've got a Defender 90 TD5 hard top. The lad before me put in some side windows. Now I'm thinking about fitting two folding seats in the rear - facing each other. Both next to the back door. My plan is to rubber line it, or possibly line it with checker plate - but I' a bit worried about the increased noise with all that metal.

How do I fit the two seats securely - do I need to fit fixing rails? If so can I cut them in half, so only one seat fits on?

I'm only fitting two because I want a storage box next to the bulkhead. Can anyone recommend a company to supply the box - either in checker plate or something else hardwearing?

Cheers,

Darrin.

I fitted genuine county seats when I changed the top on mine. The backs of the seats bolt to a rail on the inside where you can slide the nut / bolt inside the channel. I used the exisiting mounting holes in the seats and bolted directly to the raised side section with some big washers to spread the load. I also fitted 3 point harnesses at the same time. It's got through 2 MOT's so I must have done something right.
