I still use the old India stone with the rough and smooth side and some oil. The new diamond type are good as well. Leatherman is stainless and it is harder to get a good edge. Carbon steel is easier although it needs sharpened more often..........I prefer it.
sharpen it on a proper steel (like the chefs use) then strop it on a leather to finish it off (an ordinary leather belt will do). I can get mine razor sharp with this method but it does require a bit of practice.
I dunno about the situation in the UK, but Leatherman in South Africa carries a 25 year warrantee. I send mine off to the importers every year or three, and they replace broken blades, tighten it up, and sharpen it etc. All it costs me is the postage to Cape Town and back.
