Just had a Trade in last week, came from the Blackpool Branch for appraisal.

A K plate Daihatsu Sporttrac. Looked underneath and the NSR front shackle is going through the chassis. Apart from that, it's mint. MOT until August ( God knows how it got one).

£380. A couple of hours with a Plasma cutter and the Mig and we have a new smoker for our "Apprentice".:) He's just turned 21, so it's time he had a truck of his own. He's like a Dog with two tails, I have't seen anyone so happy for ages.

Chris

I'll take the camera on Monday. It only came in to us this morning.

It was too cheap to let go, Wide Alloys and a Bull Bar, He's probably still at work polishing it.
He deserves it though, he has worked hard this year.

Chris

You must have been an apprentice once Chris...many years ago;)

So was I and one of the best things the firm ever did for me was letting me drive the Comma van so I could pass my driving test :) and then ferry everyone else around  . A nice story for your apprentice for the new year, there is nothing better than apprentices feeling valued and not just treated like garbage. Adrian

Wish someone would tell 'em that at our place. But i know deep down they all love me and wouldn't be able to do without, we'll have to see one day...hmmm...

We have a Suzuki in the back yard, he borrowed that for a few days over christmas and really likes 4x4s now. He wants a pick up or Shogun, like we have for work, so this is a nice little truck, being a 1600 petrol, still be able to tow a car and do breakdowns, plus not to much extra on the Boss insurance, ( he doesn't know yet.... )

As Adrianandkate say, there is method in our madness....

Chris

I never had those privileges but I can normally borrow a car from my ex boss if I need it
he has even offered the use of a lorry (as his Foreman doesn't have a licence to drive them) as long as I can be on call at certain times!! (next Monday for three days!) he is in londonshire!!

Wish we did breakdowns as i could probably get a D3 or Defender out of work, and could probably get them to put me through my trailer test. Free Fuel and insurance and tax sounds good to me. Silly Land Rover Assist damn you!!!

It's all a bit of give and take, Charlie. The Boss will help anyone who helps him. He let me use his 55 plate Sport to take Mum for her 70th birthday treat. If the Lads have Family getting Married or a Christening, they can use a Mercedes or a Jaguar to make the day and keep the costs down.

The Lad has been a bit of a pain for a couple of years, Same as most kids, thinks the world owes him a living and should get the same as us. He has quietened down a bit since I told him a few home truthes, he didn't like it at the time, but has since had a good payrise, borrows cars and has invested in tools. I give him my old ones when I upgrade, so he probably has twice the tools he had 2 years ago.

He likes to fetch the Breakfast Butties in the Shogun. He is starting to take an interest in the 4x4 side, instead of the sporty stuff ( he looks well Gay in some of them, what with his ear ring, neck chain and hair cut... ) He took out a V8 Jag S Type for Test run this morning, so hopefully he can now be trusted with the prestige cars as well. We normally have to take them for him.

You'd make a good Scout Leder Chris - the older ones; Explorers we call them, fourteen to eighteen. They've lost the power of speech and can't find their own ar*es with both hands, but they respond to wisdom when properly applied.

Roger.

me dad had 2 off them before he found the disco, although he said that the disco was a better motor :D

bombproof little things go well too. we had one and when we traded it for a focus the dealer took it for a lap of the block looked round it and agreed it had never been offroaded, no doubt he got a kicking when it got to the workshop and they put it on ramps and discovered that every gaurd underneath was bent and scarred. its amazing the scratches you can t-cut out:D

if its on wider alloys than diahatsu fit tell him to watch it on a wet road they can slide nicly without warning
