How Do I? Imploded Back Axle

BASHER

Trekker
Any suggestions from all you knowledgable chaps out there.
Defender 300TDI 1995 REG
Rear diff is now in 40 odd pieces, problem is ....what to do.
Get a new diff assembly  mega bucks. Cut off the holed diff pan source new parts ie crown wheel pinion drive and whatever else and weld on heavy duty replacement pan.
Get a Salisbury from somewhere...Tesco or Asda dont do em.

All suggestions greatly received ( Best place for parts:rolleyes: )

Ian,
I would weld on a new Steve Parker diff pan, and send a PM to Bmhor and ask about a good S/H diff unit.

Cheers, Sandy M.

Yes , either get a complete second hand axle or go the 2nd hand diff and weld on pan route . Going to be a fair bit of shrapnel inside the casing so you'll need to really give it a very good clean out . Also have to think about how good your welding is - can you get it oil tight :o ?.
I see that Craddocks and Paddocks and MM 4x4 are advertising salvage parts , as well as a lot of others in the lro mags . I supose postage is going to be at least 70 quid for a complete axle .
Never new bhmor did bits , but if he's local he's your man :)
