Land Rover Assist Recovery Scheme

DavidW

Shifting Up
My Defender is just coming out of warranty so LR have written asking do I want to keep the LR Assist cover up. It's £192 per annum and covers UK and Europe.

Question is - is it any better than the RAC as I've already got that as it specialises in LR breakdown?

Vote now.

main difference is that RAC covers you, whereas LR Assist covers the vehicle.

Overall if this is not a prob them LR assist is probably better as it includes better Euro cover at no extra cost and better recovery options/accident assist.

Cheers

I wont have landrover assist as when the steering lock played up on my disco s2 (twice) they would not replace it.
When asked why the answer i got was... it was fixed twice.. by tapping it twice with a hammer and a wooden block i replyed... it was fixed and therfore it wont be replaced.. and had the same problem when disco started to leak oil from the gerabox (landrover fixed this only after a lot of phone calls and only when i said i will return the vehicle under the 1 month or 1000 miles policy)

Landrover assist/ 12 months warrentry and i paid 14 grand for it... sorry but i will stop with the rac.

Also read the small print... your landrover must be serviced on time or the warrentry is void..

Spend the 200 notes elsewhere.

Cheers! Clearly no overwelming "yes go for it it's a wonderful scheme and you wil truly regret not signing up" in fact quite the opposite.

So ......

Using the creative accounting method of LR upgraditus thinking. I now have £192 spare which is enough to buy the Mantec snorkel that's been burning a hole in my pocket. :D

No sh*t sherlock! - Show me a manufacturer that doesn't say that.

Don't see the point of your post, Q was about LR assist not about LR and their ability to handle warranty claims.

David - as you already have RAC it makes sense to keep it and save money. IIRC my mantec snorkel for TD5 was just over 150 pounds inc VAT, leaving you some funds for 6mm tubing for breather pipes and some sikaflex to seal the snorkel. Ignore the Mantec instructions which don't tell you to seal the snorkel. I got an additional jubilee clip for the flexipipe under bonnet and sealed up the existing plastic side vent moulding with sikaflex. Seal it in situ as it would prove to be fun slotting it in as a single unit.
