mazda sl35ti conversion

hi all. new to all this but thought i would go online to see if any one knows about fitting a mazda sl35ti engine into a range rover. i have the engine and fitting kit, but it would appear that the adapter plate is actually a modified Lt77 front cover, basically this only gives me that option and i want to go with a 4speed zf auto.

Does anyone know where i can get a conversion plate to fit the engine so that it will take any landrover V8 fittment gearbox?

I have seen this done and assumed that mine would come like this! HELP

never done that conversion we tend to use nissan motors. although we do look after one and the motor is very good more power than u will ever need. fro coonversion plates and adaptors look at http://www.engineconversions.co.uk/ and ring up and speak to andy this is where we get all our bits from. it isnt listed but i know he does kits for most combinations you can think of.

Just saw this post whilst I was doing a search, did you try Motor & Diesel? They were the guys who imported these engines and they still stock spares. I am just taking mine out of a rangie and into a 90 but I'm got hold of a long stick V8 LT-77 for it to mate to.

Hi Steve,

Motor & diesel http://www.mdengineering.co.uk/ would be the place to start, they imported these engines and still stock most parts. Give them a bell on 01526 830 185. I think the solenoid design might have changed and you need to buy a new bracket with it now but the guys there will know.

What's the problem with it? Maybe it could be repaired? Without wishing to patronise you, do you know it's a three wire solenoid, one coil pulls the valve open and then a second holds it in place.

Apart from M&D or a repair I'm afraid I can't add much.

Hope this is of help,

MArtin

M&D are Ok -but expensive, also there are parts they cant supply now for Mazdas.
I'm after a diesel stop solenoid now for mine and they are unavailable-If you know where I can get one I'd be grateful.
Steve

Sorry Martin -posts crossed (in the post?) just found your reply.
Like I said M&D can no longer get these solenoids, they do a conversion that uses an electric motor which is a bit dear and messy to fit. I'd prefer an original if Ican get one. Theres always the good old fashioned stop cable but its a bit agricultural!
I'll keep looking must be some out there somewhere

Ok Ta I'll give him a ring tomorrow. I've opened up the knackered one, there isn't much that can be done with them. A pal is trying to find an alternative tomorrow that I can rig up, as a last resort theres always the option of a good old fashioned stop cable!

I've got two but never cause to strip box out so can't help you. What I can say is stick with it, it's the best set up you'll ever get. I've had my oldest one sixteen years would never apart with them
