Mirror, Mirror on the floor

Shifting Up
While parked in a one way street my Freelander has been hit twice today by people driving down the street the wrong way! resulting in a knackered drivers side mirror. All because the water company was digging up the road and some council official decided to divert traffic the wrong way!

The first hit broke the case while the second finished the lot off completely.

I have found replacements on eBay for about £65 quid - hope they are easy to fit by someone who does not know the difference between a screwdriver and a spaqnner!

I was wondering however if it was possible to fit "folding mirrors" to my W plate 1.8 XEi as they are rather vunerable?

Regards

Dave

Easy enough, just flick the back plate off the door inside, then a couple of wires and screws and it all comes off.

Chris

The later folding type fit really easily. All you need to do is enlarge one of the fixing holes with a 13mm drill bit and the newer folding type fit perfectly.

Cheers

Thanks Chris that sounds easy enough

Regards

When you flick the backplate off the interior side of the door make sure to start at the top of it as at the bottom it is hold by two kind of plastic hooks that 'hang' into the door. Starting at the bottom, with a screwdriver to force it off, will result in two broken hooks...:( :(

thanks for the tip - I was boud to do it wrong!

Can anyone tell me if you need to remove the interior door trim panel to get the backplate off as I am reluctant to use what feels like excessive force (I've just tried to remove the backplate and don't want to break it). Cheers
