He who packs too far in advance packs twice! :(

Blinkin' fed up going into packed boxes for something I didn't think we'd need.

Not long now (fingers crossed).

He who forgets to label what's where, and what room its from...is.....Well.. shot, really.

Our eldest daughter did her own packing last time we moved. Emptied all her drawers, and packed the stuff in boxes. We made her unpack everything, and put it back in the drawers to save space! She also packed all her books in one box... nobody could lift it.

Boo hoo though, when we moved from our longest stay (nearly ten years), I had to clear the garage, as we hadnt got room for my accumulated pile of 'useful' stuff. Hey, there was a door in the back of the garage. I'd forgotten that was there. I'm banned from 'accumulating' now....

Good luck with the flit AJ!

I still have some boxes under the stairs since I moved in 20 years ago. i also haven't seen the back of the garage for a decade. Come to think of it I'm not certain I have been in the garden shed since last Feb.
But it is all happy where it is. Useful stuff likes to be left quietly alone.

I feel sorry for you and Mrs AJ, i know what your going through only too well having recently undertaken a move ourselves. Most everything we packed has stayed in it's boxes though and only the "essentials" have been retrieved as we know we are going to be making another move sometime before the year is out.

good luck with it ;)
Cheers.

New house new baby!
 I'd rather be homeless than go through all that again!

Sensible move Roy but bet you a pound to a pinch of pooh that there's something in one of those boxes that you'll need.

Having moved 4 times in last 5 years, on one occassion making 4 houses into 1!!!!!!!

Going to sign for house on the Friday, Move in on the Monday, (weekend to clean up) 3 furniture vans (from different houses 1 from a different country) on Monday, MFI wardrobes Tue, two dogs on Wed.

11am Friday the solicitor said..."you are not going to believe this, the vendor has changed hi mind and is not selling!!"

Walked out stunned, what do we do, rearrange etc

Long story my 3 bed end of terrace was very full, walking pads to bathroom, kitchen, bedroom.

Ended up buying showhouse on a small estate, and being in, in 4 weeks!!!

On moving day, the council DUG UP THE ROAD!!!!!!

When i moved house/country i used to pack everything 5 minutes before the shipping company turned up with a container. It was only when i was on a plane home and the ship was 6 weeks from docking in the new country did i remember i left something extremelly important in the container:(

My teddy bear:)

Unbearable!!!

It was....i was 5! 16 houses and 5 countries later, in 18 years ive still got that teddy:) What else do you think was more important? Bank statements, that important picture album to show the kids or maybe that all important super duper shiny coffee machine to get my daily fix of stress relieving bog water! Nah...moving house is fun even with the stress of dealing with estate agents, removals and deciding what to pack....

i moved nearly every weekend for the last 15yrs never unpacked or packed a thing until my last move into a flat. i lived in a caravan workin for a travelling fair ground. :D :D (council tax wot do you meen officer)

Your Mum and Dad tell you that?

AJ

lol thought you would say that.....had to deal with it all myself like a good little boy this time round...mind nothing like you big boys and girls who have to deal with morgages. I think i'd have to get my mummy and daddy to hold my hand for that:p Estate agents are dim wits (no offence intended), landlords rubbish and evil (but maybe thats because im a student), energy companies are rubbish at spelling your name correctly:) and banks....they're brilliant at loosing 1300 pounds:) Why is it the older and supposedly wiser patronize the younger...its cruel but i can't wait until im older and get to do it myself!!!
