Welcome to the CB radio and ICE forum - this is a new place for all your queries, advice and chat about audio and two-way communication devices etc etc ...

So, post away :)

Someones on the ball today:D Then I can't see because of the steam. I used to drive with the window down but the winders broke at the moment:D Got a 'new' (good second hand) door to go on as the old ones bent, just waiting for a warm non windy day to spray it.
Sorry Bernie, we're ruining your welcome to the new section thread:o Banish us to clean the toilet with a toothbrush if you like:D

Cheers, Ben

In Car Entertainment

Is that a leggy blonde after a few alco-pops? :p

Seriously though, it's a good idea Bernie. Being a radio person, I think I'll hang out here for a bit...

May I make a suggestion?: If I compile an FAQ about radio in general, would this be useful as a sticky thread inside this new category? The FAQ from me would be mostly technical, and would cover some radio theory, installation considerations, antennas, how to do decent antenna connections, explanation and descriptions of various pieces of equipment etc.

Two attached photos:

1) Sister Margaret at the hospital in Masaka in Uganda using radios to co-ordinate healthcare projects in the regi4on.

2) Ross Holgate and the African Rainbow Expedition crew planning the day's journey. Radios are indispensible for the expedition.

I would find that intresting:)

Marc, the second guy in from the right has absolutely no neck!! how does he check his blind spot? lol sorry.

N.B if anyone wants to pop round and clean my loo, they are more than welcome:) I'll even supply the toothbrush.

Thanks for the new forum though Bernie, everytime I've installed my own ICE i've blown fuses:rolleyes:

A great idea me thinks;) in fact a very great idea;)

Good idea Bernie, and I look forward to reading Marc's FAQ thread. Hmm, a new moderator on the Forum? (take one pace forward that man?) :D

His name is Deon Schuurman, and he's an ex-professional rugby player. He played for the Blue Bulls in SA and also in France for a few years. He's huge!!! He stands a good 6'9" (or a bit more) and his fighting weight was 135kg (that's nearly 300 pounds)

He now works as a project manager in the building industry. You should see him squashed up in the driver's seat of his 130 :D

You can get an idea of how big he is from the photo :yikes:

Looking forward to seeing it Marc.

OK. I am now changing my name, address, appearance, and just as a matter of caution going into the FBI's witness protection program!!

My god, his hands are bigger than my head!! lol

Good idea Marc, I would like to see it, as a real amateur in this field. Would that cover CB too? Guardia civil apparently do not like CB radio but I am trying to work out how to put it in the vehicle incognito....

Yes, it would include CB radio FAQ as well, but not legal issues. I don't have a clue about the licensing or regulatory side of CB in Europe :p

Just off the top of my head I think I'd have to do an FAQ in several different posts, each one dealing with a particular aspect.

For example, one FAQ could be about RF connectors, coaxial cables, and general soldering with pictures to illustrate. Another FAQ would be about installation best practices, and yet another FAQ would be about "How radio works" etc.

I don't know how the sticky post thingy works, and I don't know how to insert pictures in the body of a post (only as an attachment at the bottom), so I'll need some advice.

Cheers,
Marc
