hi

i am thinking of getting a cb type system for this summers lainning but i keep reading about licences and things are these needed for cbs or radios , im unsure of this any advice on how to get started and whats best to buy would be apreciated

what license??? :D :D :D

apparently the license for cb`s is to be stopped,at the moment i dont have one and i dont intend getting one,i`ve been to car shows with ariels on and had several discussions with plod while cb is chatting away in the back ground, and even discussed the merits of using a cb but never a mention of a license

You dont need one now:

Its a pity that the need for a licence has been revoked as there is now a stong possibility that the spectrum could be sold off for commercial use. This is what happened to 934Mhz back in the last centuary (934Mhz ran from 2nd November 1981 to the stroke of midnight on the 31st December 1998)

Should perhaps clarify that some of the discussion around this thread is around Amateur/Ham radio.

For this you need to sit an exam (or 3 if you want a 'full licence'- you then need to get an Ofcom issued licence and a callsign that is specific to you.

Use of the Amateur radio spectrum is very strictly regulated.

See here for info:

Hi new to cb eh!!

welcome to the club
I have personally been on CB since 1979 then legal cb in1981 and still use it today even though im a G7 radio ham

cb licences are no longer required as per the many ofcom posts in this one however we may have to share the band with some other users ,no big deal.

any way we stock a large range of cb equipment and can order anything that we dont have in stock

we currently have some deals in our store on landybitz
www.landbitz.com but if you require anything specific please let me know and we will sort you out a good price.

information on how to set things up just an email away

regards

Martin
