Number Plates

Am sure this has been raised before but - moving the spacing of the letters and numbers to try and spell names is illegal isn't it.

Reason I ask is new next door neighbour moved in Friday, never heard the old ones. New one is boom boom through the wall and wasn't impressed at 10:30 Friday night when they started drilling.. Anyway was going to let her off at the mo - first weekend in new house and all that. However will go round early next week to say hello, and mention the music - and was wondering whether to point out that number plate is illegal.

I would just ask them to try and keep the noise down when it gets late! They could turn out to be tidy people!

Raising the point bout the reg plate will only get their back up.

yea to be honest that's what I was thinking too - but for my own interest is it illegal to change the spacing on number plates.

For C and U regs you cannot change the regulation spacing or alter any numbers or letters or use bolts or screws to alter things.

MOT Regs change this year, so it is RFR on Test now.:)

It's for the Plate Recognition Scanners.

Its something that annoys me, the miss spelling/altering of number plates. I reported loads to our local cops, and basically they are not interested - I thought it was part of the MOT.

RFR??

There's loads of them around here, a numer ending in 0 follwed by BAN, re spaced to read *** OBAN. The police could have a field day, probably nick some of their own!

@ the colonel

does anything else annoy you like scrotes hanging around on the corner or people ****ing on your lawn or people driving EVO 7s.

my point is does it really matter what people do with their number plates, does it effect you, if not then why report them.!!!!

if it is illegal then yes it annoys me as well, over here black and silver plates are legal upto sept 1990 i have them on my rangie and have been questioned about them a few times yet there are loads of new beemers mercs etc running on them without ever getting stopped.

we also have R plates for new drivers for the first year same as a L plate they have a few restrictions one being that they are not allowed to exceed 50mph i have reported loads of these for speeding and dangerous driving. including one who overtook me on the mountain while i was doing about 115mph:eek:

i dont see why when i have to obey the laws of the road these cretins should be allowed to get away with it.
