How Do I? Oil seal mounting part nº

JordiLR

Accelerating Away
In the proces of changing clutch plate I'm changuing the rear crank seal on my 3 bearing diesel engine. I'll like to know if Paddock or John Craddock have the mounting pieces of the seal (the two parts on the pic) and if anybody knows the name in englis and reference number.
Thanks

The seals are: rear main oil seal kit assembly, part number 542494, is listed by Craddocks.

The mounting pieces in your picture are called split seal halves or seal retaining halves, you need 2 x part number 523240, also listed by Craddocks :)

You only need to replace the two seal retainers if they are damaged, I.E. the rubber facing has come off where they go against the block and cap.:)

Thanks for the replies, I know it's not necesary to replace both parts, but if they are not too expensive I prefer the replace now that the gearbox is out of the vehicle and avoid future leaks and problems. I'd like to do all the the thing that needs to be done at once and not dismantle all the bits and pieces again.
