P38 Diesel - changed battery, few problems

Accelerating Away
Just changed the battery in the P38 and there seems to be a couple of problems. I can't reset the trip computer as it says in the handbook (I've set the windows) and the radio didn't need the code entered (is this normal? I thought it would need the code - as stated in the handbook also). It starts first time but feels rough (rougher than usual) and after a few seconds it gets worse and the car shakes.

Any ideas on how to reset the trip computer and what might be causing the shaking engine?

Nevermind, it seems to have sorted itself after leaving it running for a bit. Must have just been the ECU setting itself up again after going so long without power.

A lot of vehicles won't tick over once the battery has been taken off. Most do sort themselves out after a short run.

Still got a couple of problems: how do I recode the remote? Also, when the car is locked the alarm sounds (not continuously, more like a beep). Will recoding the remote cure this?

yep, mine "chirps" when its forgotten about its keys. press the lock button then lock the car with the key to teach it (or press unlock then unlock the car if its locked)

Thanks

Just noticed something else, when the key is removed from the ignition and the drivers door is open a warning flashes up on the trip computer saying the ignition key is still in. Will recoding the key stop that too?
