Police killer suspect fled Britain in a veil

British immigration officers rarely carry out a visual check to match a passport photograph with a departing female passenger's veiled face. and why the hell not ?

Well we don't want to upset members of a certain religion do we:Bloodymad

cheers, Tim

They will now - you can bet that Muslim women will not be thanking our Somali scrote any time soon.

Roger.

I don't see why they can't go through a female only line and remove veils for a female officer, I'll bet thats what they do in Somalia!
Next time I go through if it is a female officer I'm going to put a hanky over my face and say I am too shy to remove it:D :D :D .
I'll bet if everyone wore veils on one day, they'd soon change things. Whose up for handing out veils at Heathrow?

The veils should be banned outright in the EEC. They are not an essential part of Islam, and are worn more as an insult to our hospitality and a religios statement than out of a belief. If they want to wear them, then they should not be in our country.

Surely a fully concealing item of facial clothing is no different from wearing a balaclava. Would someone be allowed to enter a bank with a balaclava on?

IMHO it should be illegal to cover your face in any public place, if people want to hide their identity they must have something else to hide.

A bit of a problem on a freezing day when people want to put a scarf acroos their face to proetect from the cold, but a blind eye can be turned to that

It does seem a little contradictory to allow veils, but ban hoodies.

I have two difficulties with full-face veils.

They scare the b'Jesus out of my kids. My wee lad saw a woman in a full-face garb and thought it was the Child Catcher from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.

I'm also a little concerned that this garb is used, in my view, as a tool of oppression towards women. Having left a country that oppresses freedom and come here I don't like the idea of them bringing these ideas with them. Women have fought hard for equal rights and it's important that we take all steps to protect them.

Apart from that I'm not too worried about what women wear, mainly because I don't understand enough about it.

The one piece of foreign clothing that really gets to me is baseball caps.
