Rear wiper motor

Ben Breese

Big Landy Fan
Hey all, my rear wiper motor has finally given up. Its been sluggish ever since I got the truck about 3yrs ago and it gave up the other day:D I'm not really bothered as I dont use the rear view mirror much, Ive usually got a view of dogs or steam through it anyway:D
Just wondering if you can replace the brushes inside them or is it a new unit? As I say, I don't need one yesterday, just if I need a new unit I'll keep an eye on ebay for a cheapy.
Its a 89' 90. Were the wiper motor models different between the TD's and the 200's?

Cheers, Ben

Excellent idea, I could push their tail through the hole:D
 100 notes, it can stay broke:D I don't use it hardly ever, mostly offroad to clean the window so when I back up in so I don't reverse into a tree:rolleyes: I'll just weld a big bar onto the rear x-member so it doesn't matter if I do reverse into trees:D

Cheers, Ben

Plenty of time between now and MOT for ebay or Clyro? Worth looking at rangie and disco part numbers to see if theres a match and help the ebay/scrappy search.

Don't think it has to work for the MOT test does it? I was under the impression the rear ones wern't tested. It doesn't matter what condition the blade is in if so, the rubbers starting to come off mine:D
Brushes would be the cheapest option, if you can just pull them out and replace.

Cheers, Ben

I dunno, Chris? Dave?:D Its not until sept anyway, so plenty of time to nick one at the treasure hunt. I mean, errrr, find a replacement:D

Cheers, Ben

Is it definatly the motor that has packed in? Mine stopped working and it was just seized where the spindle comes out the door. A bit of WD40 and a helping hand soon got it going again.

That's what mine was like. If yours was sluggish before it stopped that might be the cause.

While ago since I fixed it so can't quite remember but yes I think a removed it and found it was working so lubricated everything to do with the bit coming out the door.

Cracking shout fellas, the motor is fine just the spindle is siezed like you said:D What I did to test it if anyone else is interested was take the metal cover off nd then remove the plastic rod between the motor and the spindle:)

Cheers, Ben
