Removing the seat bulkhead

reedrider

Overdrive!
I was wondering if any of you have removed the seating bulkhead on a series III
whats involved and will I need to put a brace in the back to add strenght to it
As I want to put some proper seats in it and 3 point harnessses
I also think I will have to shift the fuel tank filler as it comes through the bottom of the bulkhead

Thais can be done and has been done many time before. You can buy a kit to do it with, which contains a made for the purpose brace to reinforce the rear tub after you have cut out the rear bulkhead. i believe this is quite popular with defenders.

If i was going to try this I would get a 40mm piece of Rebar bent to suit and then bolt in place... Course unless you happen to have access to a large rebar cutting/bending machine you may struggle a bit :P
