Replace. Smoke. What Amp Wire?

barmy76

In Fourth Gear
I have a S111 SWB 76 and in replacing the number plate light wired it up the wrong way round. The resulting smoke that came pluming out of the console after I turned the headlights on I am replacing the wire that had melted from the number plate light to the switch.

I dont want to replace the whole chassis wiring loom but just the one wire.
Q - What Amp wire do I use?
- Any comments on how to replace just the wire if this is the best way.

PS I dont think it is a 24V Army vehicle.

17.5 amp should be okay. Not the thinwall stuff though.

I think though, the rear lamp is wired in to the tail light wiring...Thats red wire if I mind right. Red at the lamp unit, fed from red/black at the switch, I think. Stop lamps are Green/purple. If you strip the corner box out of the inside of the tub, you should see where it's all connected. There is no mention of it in the workshop manuals....Now, that's helpful, isnt it?:)
