Sat Nav Woes

pdutton

In Second Gear
I'm getting increasingly frustrated with the SatNav in my 2004 Disco.

It's a Becker unit which is supposed to have TMC but apparently not for Land Rover. It only allows me to put in part of a post code and often takes me miles out of the way to the wrong destination, you exactly where you are going to be able to use it correctly - if I knew where I was going then I wouldn't need satnav.

Took the Disco in for a service the other day, not used the dealer before so I thought I would use the satnavs list of dealers to get me there - as expected NO land Rover dealers were in the list, I had the choice from Ford, Audi, BMW, Mercedes.

Is there anything I can do to get this unit working correctly or should I give up and use TOMTOM which from previous experience is MUCH MUCH better.

I've got the Becker in my Freebie and it's worse than usless.

Route Calc with TMC only works in 3 or 4 countries, the UK not being one of them. The POI are a waste of time.

Get a TomTom or Garmin, I got given a Garmin Nuvi, prefer it to the TomTom
