I believe it was based on a kubelwagen, and supposed to be for training tank battle tactics.

T 82/83 Kubelwagen (eventually sold to the public in a version as a VW 'Thing' )
From memory the 'owner ' of that one couldn't provide any evidence it was a genuine conversion ...
So possibly an original base with some added interest added on .
