So, next year's "Billing" show is at Kelmarsh Hall...

Accelerating Away
I'm getting a lot of emails from the organisers of the whatever-it's-called Land Rover show at Billing. Apparently it's moving to Kelmarsh Hall.

Must be galling to the previous organisers (I think it was the, now defunct, Land Rover Enthusiast magazine?). If I remember rightly they tried to move it to Kelmarsh years ago as they thought the Billing site wasn't suitable? Then someone else stepped in and arranged a show at Billing on the same weekend killing off their new show.

Anyway, I went to Billing last year for the first time in a few years and it wasn't very good. Not nearly as much of interest there as in the past and the facilities are still awful.

Perhaps the move will improve it? There are so many shows around now I doubt it'll be back to what it was 10 yrs ago though...

i'm involved with the vauxhall crowd too, who have(had) their annual rally there for the last 15 or so years. so it effects quite a broad range of the enthusiasts. been to vw shows there too when i owned a polo

as above, "we" (Vauxhall bedford owners association) were looking for new show ground in 2011 after getting messed about by the then owners, but was then settled until 2015. 2016 was nearly cancelled, but again went ahead. from what i've heard from owners association rep they are going to fill the site with more static caravans and log cabin gites to make it more like a holiday park rather than mixed use show ground.

couple years ago we also got a kick in the bollox from northampton borough council who enforced a traders license on stalls at the autojumble which made up a large section of the show. so the parts area crumbled in size and interest, and left only a few commercial traders. to give you an idea how ridiculous its got, there was a large area selling scented candles this year ?!

no love lost for me personally. it was a quite nice site, picturesque even, if you kept away from the staffy on a bit of string area over near the A45. nothing makes you feel more at home than trevor and the kids doing circuits in their transit tipper round the access roads at snails pace at 2am.

Hi there,

I am part of the team organising the Billing Off Road Show on the 28,29 and 30th July 2017 on our family farm.

My family designed and built the off road course 26 years ago and have catered for thousands of campers over the billing weekend.

We will have two off road courses open to the public, trade stands, clubs and live entertainment.

Any questions then please get in touch with me.
