i'm buying some coopers stt's and going for the 285/75/16. now i lready have 265/75/16 on black mods, will these wider tyres fit...i know i should have asked Craddocks when enquiring about them but me forgot.....ADA

Well according to that article LRO ran last month, 285/75/16 will need mods.. But im sure someone else here will have slightly better knowledge

If you have a 2" life then they will fit, but I think you need 8" wide wheels.

As Paul said.
You will get them on a standard 16 x 7 inch rim mod, but technicially it is too narrow !
Need's to be a 16 x 8 inch.

Yes I do remember, but were they 7 or 8" wide? As I remember the tyres were not that wide, so, I think they are only 7" so new wheels needed

Got 235/85-16s on there at the mo, and about to change to Mud Terrains. Do I have to stick with the standard, or can I fit a wider one without any problems?

Thanks Dave. As they are 75 profile tires does it affect the speedo at all in terms of accuracy? or do they work out at the same size?

The same site I posted a link to earlier in the thread has a calc where you put in your current wheel size and the new size and it works out the difference Dia and it's affect on speed

Just incase anybody is interested I ran the figures for 235/85-16 tyres and 265/75-16s through the excellent calculator as pointed out by Shox Dr earlier and results were as follows:

Circumference difference between the two tyres: -6.29mm
Percentage circumference difference: -0.25%

So at 70mph speedo would read 69.83mph.

no if you fit the 85 as suppose to the 75 it would.. slightly bigger
