steering pump refurbish

wildbillcoyote

Accelerating Away
Hi

My steering pump has just gone pop (well the seal has anyway) spewing ATF all over the place and no power steering :-(

Ive managed to get the pump off the 90 and have now found out the 200 tdi steering pump part nr NTC9070 is just about the most expensive to buy, I havent got £180 handy right at this moment so I thought I'd try replacing the seals

Thing is Ive no idea how to get the triangular shaped flange bit off of the pump ( as this seems to be the only way of getting to the seals.

Does anybody have any advice on how to get this off - do I need heat??

Cheers

Steve

Some people have done it, I remember reading it. Its not usually that sucessful tbh, the seals dont last long after you redo them apparently. Most people go for a new/ recon box. Tried E-bay?
I'll try to find the link for replacing the seals too.

Cheers, Ben

Ben he's looking at the pump not the steering box.

I sold my pump from my 200TDi (didn't have a power steering box) and the tubing on ebay and I can't remember how much it was for but it wasn't anywhere near that much.

cheers for all the responses guys - I am checking ebay but no 2nd hand ones :-(

worrying thing now is having spent so much time under the truck yesterday ive seen all the other jobs that need mending.

he ho -- and now all the snows gone
