Hello all, well just got back form the 2k km drive down the south island, great trip, although they really are hill billies down the south island, drove for hours between towns, well shops! Wetha was nice apart from 2 out of ten days..
Bacjk up in auckland now untill i fly back, which i really dont want to do!

You've seen more of the country in a week than we've done in 2 years!

I'm guessing the photies are of Mt Manganui, some trout near Taupo, some geo-thermal stuff near RotoVegas and Mount Ruapahu from the Desert Road. Only seen the last of these for myself, but we're off to Taupo and Napier at the end of the month.

I'll give you a call for beers soon.

Preddy good, the first one is whale island off whakatane beach(ohope) yup rupehu (sp) the kea is in some nature place in rotovegas as is the geo thermal ones and the trout pictures, and the other is me leaning in the rock pool to get muscels off the rocks for a wee snack in a place called Jacks Bay right down the bottom of the south island, my bro inlaw has a Bach there..

No problem.. I have transport, im going to Goat Island for the day on the 17th, but other than tha i have no other sety plans as yet...

But Luke, how are you going to persuade Dave H to come too?

Maybe buy a selection of magazines to take back for him; NZ Guns and Hunting, Hunting and Fishing, Pig Hunter...
 
Does anyone have any idea about the availability of forest related work over there as im thinking of trying to head there later in the year??
Im finishing my degree in June.

Just to rub it in, here's some piccies I took this evening. I turned left out of the end of my street and followed the road until it ends at a boat ramp, a total distance of 200m.

Carter Holt Harvey were the biggest forestry operator over here, but they've sold a huge amount of their holdings and I think are now concentrating on wodd and paper products. Mind you, the forests are still there, I just don't know who operates them now. Take a look at the Immigration Depts. website and see if either the job type is in the extreme shortage list or your degree will be recognised in the points system.

Well he did say NZ is a place he wold visit, mmmm Mrs H is a nurse :rolleyes:

I may just happen to pick up all those mags and any others i can find on shooting, oh and a firearms application form :D

Oh and pop in to the gun shop and note prices of said firearms :D
