UK Stuck in gear AND deep mud..HELLLLPPPP

Backs4more

Trekker
Just been out for a midnight jaunt and unfortuantly I have got stuck in very deep mud. Its dug down too above the axles :o and stuck fast.

I jacked it up and got rocks under the wheels but as I started to move backwards the reverse gear seems to have stuck on. I was in difflock at the time but the lever slides ok. Its in lo ratio box if that makes a difference.

So, to re-cap, I am stuck in reverse gear (gear lever wont disengage), low box and going nowhere fast!!!!!!!

Its not the clutch gone ore ny of the cylinders as I can press the clutch pedal and go into neutral.

Any ideas chaps???? Its sitting there sinking deper and deeper

Oh, its a 300TDi 90 btw if that makes any difference!!

...panic over.

I was up at 8am, on with the wellies and out with a spade. When we got to the 90 it was sunk so deep that the front bumber was about an inch into the mud and the rear cross member was even deeper!!!!

With loads of digging, a hi-lift jack, 4 wooden stakes, around half a ton of boulders all collected by hand, loads of brush wood and 4 attempts, we got her out. Just under 4 hours it took for the two of us to dig it out!!!

Big thanks to my partner, Cas, who rolled up her sleves to help me!!!!

what was with the gearbox then?

Nothing is appears! :D :D :D

Once it had been jacked up and the holes under the wheels filled with rubble and brush wood the gearbox started to work again. :D

I am wondering if it was because the prop shafts, axles and wheels were pressed into the mud. Maybe this ment that there was not enough slack in the drive train for the gears to be selectable.

It happened a second time, this time in first gear when it sank again....lol...but again, once jacked and packed it was ok.

Only hassle I had once free was I pulled up outside the house, touched the brakes and nothing happened!!..lol..and I hot the wall, gently though. Looked at the brakes, everything was soaked and caked in bog so I am hoping a good wash will sort them.

The transmission will have wound its self tight with working hard under load, not uncommon in very low gears in tractors and lorries Rob, Happy New tear to Cas and yourself.

And a happy new year to you and Cath!!!

Started washing it at 11am today, finished at 4pm

Took off each wheel in turn and had a bloody good spray around.

and I wish I hadn't!!! I managed to get her welded up for the MOT, its booked in for Monday, but I found another weak spot..and the jet wash blasted a hole in it...i could cry..i really thought I was there with the welding. :(
