TD5 Drivers door problem

Extreme Landy Fan
This morning when I got to my car at the airport I couldn't unlock the drivers door with the remote.

If I press the button once, I can hear something happening, but the nob stays down and the door stays locked. If I press the button a second time, all the other doors unlock normally.

I have to unlock the driver's door with the key.

Once inside, all the doors except the drivers door lock when the vehicle moves.

Also, the drivers door doesn't lock or unlock via the switch on the dashboard - all the other doors do work properly though.

Strangely, the driver's locks fine with the remote.

Am I right in thinking that the control unit in the door is faulty / has been damaged?

I'm not too keen on taking the door cards off and then leaving the thing as a "work in progress" while I'm looking for parts, so I'd appreciate any diagnostics, help or advice from other forum users.
