TD5 Plastic Dowels

adseybear

In Second Gear
I have just bought a 01 Def TD5 "Hard Top" Now partially SW.

I am concerned about the plastic dowels used to locate the head in place, and the problems associated with them. What are the consequences if the head moves slightly.

Can they be swapped for the later type metal ones before something goes wrong,

Is it worth it, because I have heard of TD5's living forever on the plastics, but also heard of some going terribly wrong.

Thanks for any advice

Hello
Unfortunaly plastic dowels on td5 up VIN ..2A622423 can not be change for steel ones. From VIN 2A622424-3A647705 (can be changed to steel ones)there was another type of plastic dowels amd fra VIN ..3A647706 they were steel ones.
Lost of older td5 go on without problems. If You drive hard and do some chiping the risk will be greater I think.
