The "normal things going on" thread.

Day 7 after contracting the Flu and I'm finally starting to feel relatively normal although still weak. I haven't had it for a few years and I'd forgotten how hard it can hit. I guess at 56 years old it's about time I start getting the vaccination on a yearly basis...
I started having the vaccination around Covid time (I’m 57) and was grateful this year.
I caught the flu , probably from the boys school / classmates. I was bad for two days but then seemed to recover quickly and by day 4 was back to normal.
No proof the vaccination helped of course but I suspect it did.
Btw - apart from a sore arm for 24 hours I had no reaction from the jab either.

Pleased you’re on the mend 👍👍

I stopped having the vaccination as it gave me the flu every time. Not had it since 6 years.
That was my plan too until this year. It's been 6 or 8 years myself since I had one. I don't know... I'm not really an anti-vax kind of guy and tend to believe the "science" when it comes to things like this but the whole Covid thing woke me up a bit. I don't hold the same kind of trust in things that I used to.

It;s not going to be gracing the front of any Christmas cards, but took Morag to get the tree this year.

Our clothes washer was in need of replacement so with some research I chose a new Huebsch TC5, which is supposedly an all steel "commercial" quality machine. The salesman said he'd just sold several to the local penitentiary so I reckon that's a good sign. It was about double the price of the fancy shmancy high-speed, front loading, covered in modern art plastic pieces of junk I've been using up to now so I'm expecting better performance and longevity. Anyway it showed up at the house a couple of days ago. Yeah... they'd dropped it. 😠

Nope! Actually Mrs. SeriesG did settle with them for a $150 discount but when I found out what was going on I got on the phone and put a halt to all that. I don't need a discount, I need a new washing machine and one that wasn't dropped. They're sending out a fresh one from the warehouse in Calgary and it's supposed to be here this Friday. Here's to hoping it too isn't damaged.

What really annoys me about this is they know very well your going to spot the damage, they know very well your going to complain,so why not take it back on the same day and say sorry delivery was cancelled and arrange a new date …..none damaged .

Exactly. 100% As soon as they see the damage they should be telling me that they won't give it to me because they don't do business like that and want me to be totally satisfied and will be replacing it ASAP. That I could respect. After that they can take the broken unit back to their showroom and sell it for a discount to someone who can obviously see the issue, or claim insurance or whatever. Try to slide my wife a $150 discount on a $2500 appliance while I'm off at work? Really?!
Anyway, they're dealing with it so I shouldn't complain too much. It was pretty good service really. I just had to poke them a bit.
