Thread size please

I'm looking for this info as well, My VDO gauges should arrive any day now, the sender unit will be 1/8 NPT and the only T piece I can find which mentions fitting a Landrover is a 3/8 BSF one with a 1/8 NPT aperture for the new sender on Holden's website. Surely someone reading this must have fitted an oil pressure gauge to a Tdi and can tell us all what thread size the warning light switch is?

3.8 BSF could be for the 2.25 engine. The V8 is 1/8 BSP.

Have a look on the Demon Tweeks catalogue.

Is that for a 300Tdi ?

I'm a little further ahead I think.... :D :D
I understand the thread size it 10mm. Now all we have to find is the pitch :p
I'm now waiting until I order my oil pressure gauge. Then I'm buying a new oil pressure switch, taking it to a one man band turning workshop and saying make me one of these please.

hi mike,

go to www.asapsupplies.co.uk and look at there section on marine instrumentation/faria threaded adapters. i think what your looking for is M10x1 to 1/4NPT, but if you phone them they will tell you i'm sure. i used these people for years when i had a fishing boat and found them first class. their range of instruments are top quality and for some reason much cheaper than the ones you get from the usual land rover / go faster outlets.

good luck paul

Thanks Paul.
I'll look later if you don't mind.
I'm fitting a SPA oil pressure/voltmeter to mine. www.SPA-UK.co.uk Now the oil pressure sender is 1/8 BSP. Really you can't seem to win with all these different thread sizes.
Don't look at the price unless yo're sitting down.:p

I'm fitting the Spa Oil Pressure/Temp to mine :-) I already have old dial ones fitted but they never worked as the sender was broke :-( When I get all the senders together I am sending them to a chap I know who will then supply the correct t-piece to take the Spa gauges and hopefully the original oil pressure switch as well.

My new oil pressure gauge is still not connected up. I have been unable to find what thread size the Landrover pressure switch is so I can get an adapter. Surely someone must know.

Well aparently nobody does know.
Or if they do they aint letting on.

I've had to put my pressure gauge off for another month.

Still no further forward! My oil pressure gauge is still reading zero after almost 3 months, usually someone on here knows the answer to every question. Is it just myself and mmgemini who have ever thought about having a gauge and keeping the warning light switch?

Alastair. I'm still worknig on it. I might order my gauge at the end of this month. I think I'll be getting an adaptor made. I'll try and remember to let you know what happens.

I've been wanting to know this for ages too. Got a random oil pressure gauge and adapter from sodbury this time last year and still have no clue what to do. My local LR enthusiast place had no clue.

SUCCESS.... :) :)
It is 10mm X 1mm or as my fixings chap says 10mm fine.

I went into Rossleigh of Stockton my Land Rover dealer and borrowed a new switch.
Then I walked across the road to Teeside Industrial Fasteners and they put a nut on the switch to confirm the size.

Good work. Now all I need to do is find a place to make a T piece for me, that will also fit my new oil pressure switch which to be honest could be anything.

First thing. My dealer in Stockton is Stratstone. That's the third or fourth name change since I started to use them.... :o

T piece. Or oil pressure gauge sender. What make of gauge is it ?

At last! My oil pressure gauge is working, thanks to mmgemini and a T piece adapter from Holdens. It reads about 3.75 bar when cold, dropping to 3.5 bar when warm and about 1.5 bar at idle when warm. Thanks again mmgemini.
